A poached egg used to be one of the scariest things for me to cook till I finally decided to confront my fear and get over it. This was when I finally learned how to cook poached eggs in a pan.

A poached egg has a lot less calories than a fried egg. It was this difference that motivated me to finally learn to cook poached eggs, as I love to have eggs for breakfast.

Toast a slice of bread till it’s crisp, spread your favourite bread spread over it (mine is pesto), top it with a poached egg and a simple, delicious and low calorie breakfast is ready.

Ingredients:

1 egg
water
a pan for boiling water

This Is What You Do:

Heat water (1+1/2 to 2 inches) to boiling; then reduce the heat to simmering.

Break each egg into a custard cup, hold it close to water’s surface and slip egg into water.

Cook about 3-4 minutes or until whites are set and yolks change their colour.

Remove eggs with a slotted spoon.

Serves 1.

Tips:

If poaching more than one egg at a time, use pan large enough to accommodate all the eggs. They shouldn’t touch while cooking.

Fresh eggs give best result.

    1. Great to see you here dear Yusra 🙂 slotted spoon is a flat round spoon with holes in it…the kind we use for frying so that the oil drains through the holes like a sieve.pesto is a blend of basil leaves, pine nuts and olive oil… I get it from Alfatah and Jalal sons in Lahore. Hope you will enjoy. xx
