These very quick and easy Sausage Bread Rolls are our next fun recipe in Cooking with Kids series. Please completely handle the boiling and frying parts of the recipe for younger kids and supervise kids 10 and above while they are cooking. Its a complete meal served with a little salad or a glass of milk on side. You can pierce a skewer through the rolls like corn dogs to give a more interesting look…a quick and tasty lunch box recipe. You can make these a day before, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate, fry in 2-3 minutes when needed. My daughter had a great time making the dough…she said it was like playing with modelling clay. Hope you and your kids will enjoy cooking and snacking 🙂

For Sausage Bread Rolls :

2 chicken (or your choice) sausages
2 large or 3 medium slices of white bread
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
1/4 cup milk to mix with bread slices
Vegetable oil for shallow frying

This Is What You Do :

Crumble the bread slices into smaller pieces, add milk, ketchup and pepper. Mix till soft dough forms. If the mixture is still too dry, add another 2 tablespoons of milk. Divide into two equal portions. Grill or boil the sausages. When they are cool enough to handle, wrap them completely in the bread dough. Heat oil in a frying pan on medium-low heat and shallow fry the rolls till golden brown on all sides, turning them frequently. Serve hot with your favourite dip.

    1. Sunitha I don’t think that bread crumbs will give the similar kind of coating (soft from inside, crispy outside).
