Not only it’s a delight to eat but so much fun to create different fruit combinations of ones choice. You can choose tropical fruits, assortment of berries, dates and figs, even dried fruits and nuts taste great too. And if you are not a fan of chocolate ( though it’s very hard for me to imagine), you can spread the slices with peanut butter or maple syrup instead.
My younger daughter described her delightful experience with each bite that she cherished. According to her it was creamy with chocolate spread in the centre, different fruits gave a whole new flavour experience with every mouthful and then there was the delicious double layer of French Toast. She called it an eggy fruit sandwich that was scrumpilicious, a word she coined to describe scrumptious, luscious and delicious đŸ™‚
Ingredients:
2 eggs2 eggs
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1/3 cup milk
4 tablespoons chocolate spread
1 cup mixed fruits of your choice( I used sliced banana, apple and mango)
4 tablespoons olive or sunflower oil for frying
This Is What You Do:
Spread four bread slices with chocolate spread of your choice. Layer the fruits on top in a single layer. Cover with other four slices to make fruit and chocolate sandwiches.
Heat one tablespoon oil on medium low heat in a nonstick or heavy bottomed frying pan. Dip both sides of a sandwich carefully in the egg mixture. Place in the pan and fry till crisp and brown on both sides. Repeat with other sandwiches, oiling the pan with a little oil before placing in a sandwich every time.
Cut the sandwiches in halves. Serve with fresh fruit, cream or ice cream on the side.
