Sometimes I think there is no end to the variety of recipes one can create out of good old chicken ! Put together a little love and imagination and there is always something yummy to brighten up a family meal.

This recipe for Sweet and Sticky Black Pepper Chicken is my most favourite for weekends and movie nights as a comfort finger food. We don’t need any sides to serve with it, not even a dip or sauce to spice it up.

Just put the plate in the middle, sit around it and dig in with your fingers, get messy, lick your fingers, smack your lips and just be happy!

Ingredients:

1/2 kg chicken cutups
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
4 cloves garlic, chopped finely
1+1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt

This Is What You Do:

Combine vinegar, honey, sugar, garlic, black pepper and salt in a big bowl. Add chicken to it, marinate for 30 minutes.

Put a medium saucepan on medium heat, add the chicken and marinade to it. Add 1/2 cup water.

Cover the pan and let it simmer for 20 minutes.

Remove the lid and allow the sauce to thicken up to your desired consistency. I like it when it completely coats the chicken in a thick sticky glaze.

Sprinkle your favourite fresh herbs, chilli peppers or sesame seeds. Serve hot.

  1. These were delicious. It took longer than I expected to reduce the sauce to a thick glaze but it was so good once. it had been reduced. I will be making these again. The flavor is like orange chicken and if you add hot pepper flakes at the end it is really good.
