Chicken wings make very appetising starters, snack or side dish. This recipe for Spicy Chicken Wings in Orange Sauce is very quick and easy, specially if you marinate the chicken a day before then all you need to do is broil the chicken for 20 minutes and thicken the sauce. You will get the most succulent chicken wings with a finger-licking-good orange sauce.
If your oven doesn’t have a broiler, you can simply grill the wings till the skin is crispy or pan fry them before adding to the sauce.
You can use the same recipe to cook chicken cut ups or boneless chicken pieces too, if you are not really into wings. Increase the quantity of sauce and serve with rice as main course.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup chopped onions
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon mustard sauce
4 cloves garlic
1 green chilli pepper, finely chopped
2 teaspoons corn flour
1/2 orange
1 stalk Spring onions, chopped
This Is What You Do:
Turn the oven broiler on, drain the wings and place in a pan under the broiler (5-7 inches away from the heat). Broil for 10-12 minutes or till golden and crisp, turn once and broil another 8-10 minutes.
Or Heat 2 tablespoons olive or sunflower oil in a pan and fry them on high heat for 2-3 minutes then on medium low heat till golden and crispy on the outside and done inside for almost 10 minutes. Remove from pan.
Use the marinade to make orange sauce. Pour the marinade in the same pan. Dilute corn flour with a little water and add to the sauce. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously, till the sauce thickens. Pour over wings and serve hot.
Squeeze the orange juice over from 1/2 orange right before serving, garnish with spring onions.
Serve hot.
