Reaching for a fruit or vegetable high in water content after finishing an intense workout can hydrate your body twice as effectively as a glass of water because these water-rich foods also provide the body with natural sugars, amino acids, mineral salts and vitamins that are lost in exercise. They can replenish your body without all the artificial colors and flavors commonly found in sports drinks. The biggest advantage of consuming high water content foods is that they contain minimal calories and provide a feeling of fullness.
Paloodeh Talebi – Sweet, Simple, Healthy:
Paloodeh Talebi is a simple but very refreshing summer drink which is amazingly wholesome and super easy to make. The natural deliciousness of cantaloupe or melon is enhanced with a hint of rosewater and jazzed up with a little salt and lemon juice. Honey goes in to sweeten the whole thing a tad more. But I would recommend to keep the quantity of flavour enhancers to the minimum so the real taste of the fruit can shine more.
All Natural:
This cantaloupe drink is chock-full of Vitamins A, C and beta-carotene which help strengthen your body against any number of ailments. The best part, is there are no weird powders, flavorings, or artificial ingredients in this concoction.
*Traditionally cantaloupe is shredded and then added to the drink. If you like the consistency of fruit chunky in your drink, you can shred it or very briefly whiz it in the blender. I like my drink smooth.
*Lemon juice is not part of the traditional Persian cantaloupe drink recipe but it really helps pick up the flavours. Instead of lemon you can also add a few strawberries to add a splash of colour and touch of sweet n sour to your glass.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon rose water
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 glass cold water
10-12 ice cubes
This Is What You Do:
Add rosewater, salt, lemon juice and honey.
Add water and blend to a smooth puree.
Add crushed ice or if your blender can crush ice just chuck in the ice cubes and blitz few more seconds.
Taste and add more honey if required.
Enjoy chilled.
Lovely chilling drink for the season. Iam sure my family would love this somuch.
